Congratulations to DAISY award winner, Lorena Duncan! Lorena is a labor and delivery nurse in the Family Birth Place at Mary Washington Hospital and was nominated by a grateful patient (who also happens to be a mother baby nurse herself!). Lorena stayed with her patient through a complicated delivery that ended in an ICU stay for the patient. Lorena was a steady voice, gentle hand, and listening ear through the whole process, encouraging not only the new mom but her parents as well. Lorena, thank you for the concern, care, and compassion you show for your patients, and for setting an extraordinary example for your team. #DAISY #DAISYaward

We held our annual Stroke and Trauma Expo yesterday at Mary Washington Hospital. Visitors and associates learned about how to spot a stroke, got their blood pressure checked, and learned how to stop a bleed. It was great to have Colleen and Bert, our stroke survivor volunteers, here to chat with visitors!

Congratulations to the graduating class of the Mary Washington Hospital School of Radiologic Technology. This year's class had a 100% program completion rate, 100% pass rate on the first attempt of the credentialing exam, and 100% job placement rate! We are proud to say all graduates will be employed here at MWHC in various imaging centers and departments. We're excited to celebrate this amazing group of Project SEARCH graduates! They interned this year in departments like Food and Nutrition Services, Pathology, Medical Imaging, Supply Chain, Engineering, and the Regional Cancer Center. They all have big plans for the future, such as working in retail shops, hotels, and custodial services. We are so proud of them and wish them the best as they step out into the world. 💙
