As a company with deep roots in both the San Francisco and Colorado Climate tech space, we were excited to participate in SF Climate Week this year. We brought the Lightship L1 out to Powerhouse’s beautiful Oakland space. The evening started with L1 tours and networking, and then moved inside for a live recording of Watt it Takes Podcast with Powerhouse Founder and CEO, Emily Kirsch, featuring Lightship co-founder and CEO, Toby Kraus. Hear all about Toby’s journey, from growing up in Boulder, Colorado, to joining Tesla and Proterra, to meeting co-founder, Ben Parker and founding Lightship at the link in the first comment.
We were thrilled to have Toby Kraus, Co-Founder and CEO of Lightship, join us for a live recording of our podcast Watt It Takes at Powerhouse during SF Climate Week; and now we are looking forward to sharing the conversation with you. Powerhouse Founder and CEO Emily Kirsch sat down with Toby to talk about his journey, from growing up in Boulder, Colorado, to joining Tesla and later Proterra, to meeting his Lightship co-founder Ben Parker and embarking on the road trip of a lifetime, to revolutionizing the RV industry with Lightship. We’re looking forward to hosting more live recordings in months to come - stay tuned for details. You can hear our conversation via the link below. We've moved into our new manufacturing space in Colorado and are excited to begin testing our first production underbodies. This is an essential step to guarantee the quality and safety of each L1, ensuring our all-electric travel trailers are built to last. Our testing plan involves a phased approach, starting with the underbody, which houses all key electrical, software, and safety systems. This ensures all components work seamlessly together. Following this, we'll test more advanced builds, leading up to complete vehicle tests. We're following established automotive manufacturing best practices to ensure our vehicles meet the highest standards. L1 production begins in late 2024.

As America’s first all-electric RV manufacturer, we’re proud to be designing, building, and manufacturing in the US. Last year we shared the news that we signed a lease on our Colorado pilot manufacturing facility. We’ve now moved in and have been quickly filling up all 32,379 square feet of the space building out the manufacturing operations that will bring L1s to your driveway. Production starts at the end of 2024. The future of travel is electric.
