A couple of days ago our team had the first commercial offsite of this year. Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages has partnered with WestRock to launch a top sustainable paper and packaging player. We’ve rolled out new tech to swap out plastic rings for recyclable paperboard carriers in our multipacks. This move will CUT OUT around 200,000 POUNDS OF PLASTIC each year (yes, you read it well!), and everyone in NYC, Philadelphia, and New Jersey can purchase these new packages on stores' shelves. WestRock provided the substrate, tech, and machines needed to bring PETCollarTM Shield Plus into our production line in Philadelphia. These sturdy, easy-to-hold paper carriers, now in 12-ounce and 16.9-ounce multipacks, are available in our favorite brands: Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Fanta, Seagram's, and Dasani. Leading and working on this project for almost two years has been amazing. Now, I'm thrilled to see the teams' effort, passion, and commitment come to life! Congratulations Liberty Coca-Cola! We unveiled our new recyclable paperboard carriers, which will replace an estimated 200,000 pounds of plastic rings each year. This occasion marked a celebration through a collaboration with WestRock Company to create durable, easy-to-hold paper-based carriers that will be used to package #CocaCola’s top brands in multipacks. Another Liberty First! 🥇 We held a ribbon cutting today for the launch of recyclable, paper-based carriers on our 12 and 16 oz PET multipacks in Philly. This new innovation, in collaboration with WestRock Company, is the first in the world 🌎💥 We launched our first paper-based carriers last year with our mini cans at our Elmsford, NY production center. With these new paper carriers in Philly, Liberty Coca-Cola Beverages just became the first bottler in the nation to eliminate plastic rings from production, reducing roughly 200k lbs. of plastic per year.
