A sold out crowd gathered to take in the incredible sights of the Javits Center’s green roof system on June 10th. Thanks to Matthew Coody, Director of Development, Dustin Partridge, Director of Conservation and Science, and Myles O. Davis, Senior Member, Green Infrastructure, of the NYC Bird Alliance for their detailed description of the center’s groundbreaking design and sustainability initiatives. Everyone enjoyed their chance to explore the rooftop farm, orchard, pollinator gardens, aviaries, and wild bird habitat. The green roof is the city’s largest and absorbs seven million gallons of stormwater each year, reduces energy consumption by 26%, and more while providing institutions with data regarding ecological impact.
