🤩🎉 We're excited to announce that Diveplane has officially relaunched as Howso and our new open-source AI engine is now available for free download on GitHub! The world is being wowed by new #AI applications…but these tools are black boxes which provide no traceability, transparency, or accountability. We’re proud to launch the new Howso Engine into open-source as an alternative to black-box AI libraries in use today. Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Michael Capps and co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Chris Hazard spoke with Kyt Dotson of SiliconANGLE & theCUBE about how our company was founded to change how AI is used in people’s lives, and how this open-source launch will change the trajectory of AI adoption. AI without compromise.
About us
The AI landscape is dominated by solutions that sacrifice integrity for power. We refuse to compromise. We’re on a mission to make trustworthy AI the global standard. To advance this mission, we’ve launched an open source alternative to black box AI called Howso Engine. It’s an auditable ML framework that brings groundbreaking explainability and performance to AI. We’ve also built an enterprise synthetic data platform atop Engine called Howso Synthesizer. It’s a solution that helps companies train AI/ML models with accurate, private, and auditable data. Howso Engine and Synthesizer are only the beginning, but they are already being used by global financial institutions, health care systems, and governments across the world. We’re building high-performance AI that you can trust. Howso (formerly “Diveplane”) was co-founded by Dr. Mike Capps, Dr. Chris Hazard, and Mike Resnick in 2017. In September 2023, the company renamed the company alongside the release of the open source version of Engine in a critical step towards meaningful social impact.

Many thanks to our friends from the Wolfpack Investor Network for stopping by the office last week! Always great to hear from investors and members of the greater Howso community.
WIN held a site visit to portfolio company Howso this week. We were able to hear from Howso's new CEO Gaurav Rao, catch up with founder Michael Capps and CTO Chris Hazard and meet most of the local team. Thank you for hosting us and for the update! If you're unfamiliar with Howso, please check them out! In the crowded and overwhleming space of AI companies, this team is deploying its trustowrthy and explainable AI solutions in academic institutions, non-profits, global financial enterprises, healthcare organizations, and government agencies. Howso users are empowered to make decisions directly from data, rather than relying on abstract black box models.

Headed to Databricks Data + AI Summit next week? We are too! Send us a message if you'd like to make time to chat about the future of explainability in SF!

Trust is the key to accountability and clarity in AI. Howso brings trust to enterprise through an alternative approach to AI called instance-based learning (IBL). In our latest blog post, Howso Global Head of Sales John Emmert details the core benefits of IBL, namely: • Continuous Learning • Explainability by Design • Enhanced Transparency Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eMwyEBHU

Last week, Howso CIO Will Goddin had the chance to participate in Raleigh-Durham Startup Week. The event, titled "Cyber Threats Through the Lens of CISO", featured a panel of cybersecurity professionals who discussed the most pressing issues confronting enterprise CISOs/CSTOs today. Will was able to offer unique insight to founders in the audience on how to establish governance best practices and avoid the potential pitfalls of AI. Since 2017, Howso has been building AI that high-trust industries can rely on. We're glad to participate in important conversations around AI/security and will continue to develop products that advance trustworthy AI as the global standard.

AI observability is essential to realizing returns on ML investments. That's why Howso is proud to be listed as a "New Entrant" in Matt Turck & FirstMark's MAD Landscape (ML, AI, & Data) for AI observability. Howso leverages the data itself, not an abstraction of the data. This means that we don't just offer observability but true explainability. The result? Leaders gain a completely transparent view into their ML investments, making governance easier and deployment faster.

Valuable insight on patient outcomes that can improve care for thousands. None of the privacy or security risk. That's why Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (DBHDS) chose Howso Synthesizer. "Unlike data-masking products we investigated that can be reverse-engineered to de-mask the data, Howso Synthesizer creates every single synthetic data element as 100% private, so there is no way it could ever be de-masked." - Glendon Schmitz, CISO, DBHDS Here are just a few of the ways that DBHDS will leverage Synthesizer: • Test data quality in a fully secure and compliant way • Provide synthetic data to partner organizations to conduct joint research • Create ML models that predict patient outcomes, treatment options, and staffing needs Find out more by reading our latest case study below: https://lnkd.in/eaGzDmAd
