Honeycomb is the observability platform that enables engineering teams to find and solve problems they couldn’t before.
About us
Honeycomb is the observability platform that enables engineering teams to find and solve problems they couldn't before. Honeycomb’s approach is fundamentally different from other tools that claim observability, and is built to help teams answer novel questions about their ever-evolving cloud applications. Other tools silo your data across disjointed pillars (logs, metrics, and traces), are too slow, and constrain teams to only answer predetermined questions. Honeycomb unifies all data sources in a single type, returning queries in seconds – not minutes – and revealing critical issues that logs and metrics alone can’t see. Using the power of distributed tracing and a query engine designed for highly-contextual telemetry data, Honeycomb reveals both why a problem is happening and who specifically is impacted. Every interface is interactive, enabling any engineer – no matter how tenured – to ask questions on the fly, drill down by any dimension and solve issues before customers notice. Powered by machine learning, BubbleUp enables you to quickly spot outliers that reveal the cause of hidden issues. Engineering teams can deploy confidently, resolve incidents faster and focus on high-value work that drives innovation.

What a win! 🙌 Thanks Gustavo for the shoutout.
I wanted to share this beautiful honeycomb.io graph here, so I decided to write a little bit about what I have worked on since January. On December, 2023 our team began to discuss a proposal that would reduce the high latency affecting some of VTEX's European tenants during cart and checkout. 🤔 So, what changed? Nothing fancy, really: We removed some slow requests from the critical path and are now performing them asynchronously, after the order is placed. 🤨 And why weren't you doing this earlier? Because we didn't know we could! - and that's what I wanted to write about. We had a "limiting belief" that, back in 2022, forced us to face the consequences of having slow synchronous calls during the most sensitive phases of an online purchase… While there was a lot of engineering effort from myself and amazing teammates, what really enabled this project was communication. No elaborate architectural patterns, no complicated concepts, no miraculous coding hacks… Sometimes, talking (a lot 😅 sorry!) to other teams and understanding what are the requirements is all you need. Is Open Telemetry just for IT Ops and Security? Austin Parker (Dir. of Open Source at honeycomb.io) is among the elite leaders in the OTel community. While discussing his new book, Learning OpenTelemetry, Parker shared his ideas on the future of Open Telemetry. While OTel is ideal for technical telemetry data and processes, Open Telemetry can easily be utilized to measure business, product, experience and many other aspects of the effectiveness and results of our business and technology systems. Watch the full video at https://lnkd.in/gvCss295. Thanks for the interview, Austin. Learning Open Telemetry is available at your favorite book stores, including https://lnkd.in/gttCBwbg.
