The world has moved online, which is an incredible thing! People have more time in their days without commutes, more control over their schedule, and get to spend more time using their hard-earned homes. The downside of this is that we spend more time than ever before using video-conferencing. This can leave us feeling drained without ever leaving the house. This #TipTuesday we are sharing five tips for overcoming Zoom Fatigue: 1. Give yourself time between meetings - Having time to grab a glass of water, use the restroom, or simply to process the information you just received can make all the difference in your day and how you are able to show up for your colleagues and clients. 2. Use non-verbal reactions - Sometimes a thumbs up can do the trick! Having to hover over the mute button can bring its own level of anxiety and prevent you from processing the purpose of the call. Using nonverbal reactions can let the speaker know their message was received without requiring a verbal acknowledgement. 3. Try a virtual background - Some of the strain of being constantly on camera is maintaining a Zoom-ready backdrop. Life happens, and alleviating the stress of keeping everything in your work space camera-ready can give you more time to focus on the work at hand. 4. Utilize alternate communication methods - It's easy to default to a video call, but is it always necessary? Send a quick email, hop on a phone call, or ping them on your Teams/Slack chat. Leaving video calls for the important items can help to focus on what matters. 5. Make an agenda - If a video call is necessary, do it with purpose! Having a meeting agenda can keep your conversation on track and assist with focus and energy, and you might just get to hop off early. #BostonStaffing #TheHollisterGroup #TheHollisterDifference #StaffingAgency #Zoom #ZoomFatigue

Workplace recognition may appear to be a "feel good" initiative, but there are tangible benefits of increasing recognition in your organization. This week, our #ThoughtfulThursday post will review one of these benefits and the "why" behind how they work. Recognition in the workplace does more than boost morale—it enhances safety. A culture of recognition builds strong social bonds, fostering mutual care and awareness. When employees feel valued, they are more mindful of their actions and more likely to follow safety protocols. Notably, organizations that doubled their recognition efforts saw a 22% reduction in safety incidents. This shows that recognizing and appreciating employees can lead to a safer work environment by promoting responsible behavior and vigilance. In essence, recognition cultivates a supportive and safety-conscious workplace. Last #ThoughtfulThursday we began to explore the tangible benefits of workplace recognition. This #TipTuesday we're sharing five tips for fostering a culture of recognition in your organization. 1. Develop a strategy: What is the goal of increasing recognition? Align your goals with company values. 2. Encourage varied methods: Recognition does not have to be formal to be valuable. Encourage a wide variety of recognition from public acknowledgment to personalized thank you notes. 3. Promote peer recognition: Celebrate team successes in meetings, according to the comfort level of the person being recognized. 4. Prompt and specific: When sharing recognition, offer it as soon as possible following the recognition-worthy action, and be specific in your praise. 5. Offer tangible rewards: Show your employees the fruits of their labor through gift cards, bonuses, additional PTO, casual Fridays, or any method that fits your existing company culture. #TheHollisterGroup #TheHollisterDifference #BostonStaffing #StaffingAgency #Recognition
