The acquisition bolsters Island Pump’s service, inspection, and distribution presence in Upstate, NY with S&W’s Syracuse and Rochester locations as well as expands the platform’s footprint into Maryland with S&W’s Glen Burnie location. S&W Services, headquartered in Syracuse, NY was established in 1995. The company is a provider of distribution, service, and inspection services to petroleum, commercial, and critical infrastructure customers across the East Coast. Hidden Harbor’s deal flow remained elevated during April, surpassing the previous year's results for the third consecutive month. From our perspective, M&A in the lower middle market continues to quietly present pockets of opportunity. We recently attended DealMax, where our prevailing takeaway from meetings was a sense of cautious optimism. Despite ongoing constraints in dealmaking, market participants are finding ways to navigate these limitations. Notably, the logjam for sponsor-owned assets is still prevalent; however, there may be some thawing. Solutions including CVs and preferred equity structures for refinancings are helping to catalyze liquidity. As we look out beyond summer, the fall could portend more unknowns. Time will tell if and how that affects deal flow.
