PVH - PVHardware USA has opened a 50,000-square-foot solar tracker manufacturing facility in Houston with a $30 million investment. The company focuses on custom-built solar tracking systems for new solar generation projects. The U.S. Energy Information Administration predicts solar power generation to reach 174 GW by 2025. PVH, established in San Francisco in 2008, has a proprietary pre-assembly process that can reduce installation times by 40%. The AES Corporation recently launched the AES Alamitos Battery Energy Storage System in Long Beach, California—a 100MW / 400MWh project that ranks among the world's largest lithium-ion batteries. Designed to enhance grid stability, the Fluence-supplied system supports California's goal of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2045. It operates with a modernized 640MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant, replacing an older gas power plant and aligning with cleaner energy practices. The project's four-hour storage aids peak demand, reduces reliance on natural gas, and integrates renewables. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center’s Wind Technology Testing Center (WTTC) has upgraded its facilities, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Wind Technologies Office. With the capability to test wind turbine blades up to 120 meters long, they are now at the forefront of advancing offshore wind power. This is a significant leap from the initial testing of blades around 50 meters, and it’s already expediting projects like Vineyard Wind 1. The new features at WTTC, including a wedge plate system for varied blade angles and an increase in potential load points from 8 to 11, enhance the testing process.
