At Great Hearts, teacher formation is central to our belief that our faculty, as the daily leaders and shapers of intellectual and ethical culture, must be provided with the time and resources to develop their own intellect and heart. The Great Hearts Academy for Classical Teachers (ACT) provides that vital enrichment to all classical teachers who seek to deepen their knowledge of the principles of a traditional liberal arts education. Today we visit with Mrs. Taylor King, beloved second grade teacher at Great Hearts Archway Veritas Classical Academy in Phoenix! "I started my teaching career at Great Hearts as a second grade Apprentice Teacher, and was fortunate to work with a true master teacher. I was able to learn from her and ask her questions whenever I needed her help that first year, which was often! "Now I am in my seventh year as a Lead Teacher, still in second grade, and I love the work I get to do every day. In addition to teaching, I serve as a Faculty Advisor, which allows me to mentor other teachers and give back to the faculty at Archway Veritas." Great Hearts hosted its inaugural Great Hearts Invitational Tournament of Cup Champions (TOCC), a private 18-hole golf event where top golfers from Great Hearts academies competed for the prestigious Navy-Blue Jacket. Great Hearts helps young people think clearly and make sense of it all. Our students learn to pay close attention when they read and observe, to ask smart questions, and to think logically about many different topics. They learn how to make good decisions and when it's best to wait before making a judgment.

Summer time is our teachers' time to relax, reconnect, and renew themselves! The season affords teachers additional time with loved ones (human or otherwise!), time to tackle household projects, time to travel, time to catch up on leisure reading, and so much more!
