This week, London has retained its title as the best city for technology for a second year in a row. After taking over New York last year, the latest Smart Centres Index from the commercial think tank Z/Yen has placed London at the top of the pile again. The top five included two more UK cities, both Oxford and Cambridge who finished fourth and fifth. There was a big failure with facial recognition technology at multiple UK airports within the last couple of weeks which caused huge delays for passengers. The technology which checks a persons identity, eliminating the need for multiple passport desks with people manning them, failed and exposed the risk vs reward of using the technology on such a mass scale.
