About us
Girls Who Invest (“GWI”) is a non-profit organization founded in April 2015 dedicated to increasing the number of women in portfolio management and executive leadership in the asset management industry. Our benchmark for success is to have 30% of the world’s investable capital managed by women by 2030. This goal is in sharp contrast to 2014, a year in which less than 10% of the world’s investable capital was managed by women. We will focus on education, industry outreach, accessibility and career placement to achieve our mission. At GWI, we aim to create programs to inspire and support young women to become tomorrow’s leaders. By completing GWI’s rigorous program, talented and motivated women will be well prepared to enter the industry across all asset classes including public and private equity, fixed income, credit, hedge funds, real estate, infrastructure, and to be skilled allocators of capital.

As we embark on our inaugural year of partnering with The World Bank Treasury (IBRD • IDA), we’re so excited to see a few of our GWI Scholars joining the firm’s 2024 Summer Internship cohort! We look forward to changing the face of investing together!
We are excited to welcome 19 talented students from around the world to our 2024 Summer Internship cohort. Selected from 2,400 applications, they bring a wealth of different experiences, studies, and perspectives, representing 15 nationalities, including Afghanistan, Bolivia, Brazil, Cameroon, China, Colombia, India, Italy, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, Singapore, Spain, and the US. With a balance of women and men, half currently study outside the US, and some previously interned at central and commercial banks, asset management firms, and governments. It's also our first year with several interns from Girls Who Invest, a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the investment management industry by attracting and advancing women investors, change-makers, and leaders. The group kicked off its first two community-building events in NYC and LA this month, coordinated by affinity group Co-Presidents Joyce Li, OIP Class of 2019, and Samriddhi (Simmi) Uppaladadium, SIP Class of 2018. On Friday members of our United Groups Connect employee network gathered for dim sum in downtown Los Angeles in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month. We had over 110 seated together from many other firms.
