Today is Scrap Dealer's Day! 👏 ♻ To show our gratitude to these professionals and their importance to Gerdau, today we launched the web series "Recycling without Borders" which, over four chapters, tells the stories of people who, like us, live their commitment to recycling every day. Throughout the month, follow along with our social media channels and check out how scrap metal makes a difference in the lives of Pedro (Brazil), Jeff (United States), Axel and Roberto Carlos (Mexico). #ShapeTheFuture #RecyclingWithoutBorders #ScrapDealersDay

Today is World Environment Day (June 5th), but here at Gerdau our sustainable actions continue every day in the production of our steel, which has one of the lowest global average greenhouse gas emissions in the sector. Gerdau is behind the recycling of more than 11 million tons of scrap that is collected in all of the countries in which we are present and transformed into new products, promoting the circular economy. Check out how we are contributing to the transition to a low-carbon planet. #ShapeTheFuture #WorldEnvironmentDay

The enforcement of our trade laws helps protect our market and business. On May 3rd, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) launched an investigation to determine whether rebar from Bulgaria, Thailand, and the United Arab Emirates is being sold at unfair prices (or “dumped”) in Canada. The CBSA and the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) both play a role in the investigation. The CITT will begin a preliminary inquiry to determine whether the imports are harming Canadian producers and is currently scheduled to issue a decision by the summer. Concurrently, CBSA will investigate whether the imports are being sold in Canada at unfair prices and is scheduled to make a preliminary decision by the summer as well. If the domestic industry is successful on both fronts, preliminary duties will apply going forward until final determinations are made in late 2024. #ShapeTheFuture

Policy around the climate impact of trade continues to evolve. The US International Trade Commission (USITC) is assessing the greenhouse gas emissions intensity of steel and aluminum produced in the United States through a fact-finding investigation. At the end of the investigation, USITC will submit a report to the US Trade Representative (USTR), including direct and indirect emission intensity estimates at a product-category level, as well as emission estimates associated with material and resource inputs. The estimates will inform USTR’s discussions with the European Union about the proposed Global Arrangement on Sustainable Steel and Aluminum. Gerdau has supported this initiative by hosting a USITC delegation at our Petersburg mill and is finalizing our mill data submissions. Our structural steel has the lowest embodied carbon in the US, based on mill EPD data. #ShapeTheFuture #USITC
