GE Energy Financial Services reposted this
I recently had the opportunity to participate in Northcourt Limited’s New Nuclear Technologies’ Seminar where I was proud to share more about GE Vernova’s Financial Services business capabilities as well as the rich 80-year history of GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy. Our commitment and readiness in this space is demonstrated by our partnership with Ontario Power Generation on their Darlington new #nuclear project, expected to start construction in the first half of 2025. At this forum, I also discussed investability considerations for the #UK following expressed desire and need for private capital to anchor its SMR deployment ambitions. This will require both a “best-practice” development and project finance by private investors, as well as critical FOAK de-risking initiatives to be spearheaded by the UK Government. With over 3,200 staff, UK’s only large-scale grid manufacturing facilities, and supplying some 35% of UK’s #energy with our equipment, we are committed to the UK in its journey to NetZero. I would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed speaker panel for their invaluable contributions and making Northcourt Limited’s first New Nuclear Technologies’ Seminar a huge success! The event was specifically designed to enable discussions between the investment community, new nuclear technology developers and other key stakeholders. We aimed to facilitate a better understanding between these key parties and help to demystify investability in nuclear. From Northcourt’s perspective, we have examined the role of nuclear insurance as a critical enabler of private equity investment flow into new nuclear. By creating innovative ways of offering risk transfer solutions to both, the developers and investors, nuclear insurance adds an important layer of additional confidence and ability to invest. Once again, thank you to Bruce Carnegie-Brown of Lloyd's, Paul Stein, Dr. Rita Baranwal of Westinghouse Electric Company, Nomi Ahmad of GE Vernova, Alan Woods of Rolls-Royce SMR, Mark Tetley of Northcourt Limited and Lord Callanan, Minister of Energy Efficiency and Green Finance of Department for Energy Security and Net Zero for bringing a unique perspective to the panel and sparking engaged discussions during the Q&A session. A special mention goes to Ed Butler CBE DSO for his amazing master of ceremonies skills and Steve Browning of TÜV SÜD for his help in organising the event. #netzero #climatechange #insurance #cleanenergy #nuclearenergy #investmentopportunities #SMR Optio
