    Are Candlelight Concerts competing with traditional classical music concerts? They are not; they are actually complementary. This is what Franziskus Theurillat, Orchestra Director of the Basel Symphony, said. And we agree! Our DACH General Manager, Dr. Hannah Joos, shared this sentiment. Candlelight Concerts serve as a way for new audiences to discover the pleasure of classical music by maintaining the essence and quality but also incorporating aspects that are important to the audience:   - A unique atmosphere. - Being close to the musicians. - Having music not only played but explained. - Finding outstanding venues that are part or each city’s cultural heritage. If they enjoy the experience, they will likely want to explore traditional classical music concerts. This is what democratizing access to culture looks like: creating new formats that interest new audiences while respecting the old ones.
