In honor of Pride Month, we partnered with The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center to create a Faherty Adirondack Blanket rendered in the colors of the Pride flag. 20% of the proceeds from the sales of the blanket will be donated to The Center to support their initiatives. The Center was established in 1983 during the height of the AIDS crisis to provide a safe and affirming place for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers to address the urgent threats facing the community. Over the past 40 years, The Center has grown to meet the changing needs of New York’s LGBTQ+ community, providing space, programming, and services that empower LGBTQ+ people of all ages and backgrounds to lead healthy, successful lives. https://lnkd.in/eqS8KRPt

A few months back, I traveled to Maui to spend time with our newest design partner, Anna Kahalekulu. While Maui is a hot spot for tourists, our team deeply acknowledges the sensitivities that some Native Hawaiians share around some of the harmful environmental effects visitors can have on the island. As someone who has a background in social justice and human rights law, much intention and research was put into ensuring our visit was both responsible and respectful: we worked with a Hawaii-based production team, engaged a local cultural consultant, Kainoa Horcajo, to help guide our work, and began our trip with a blessing and traditional ’awa ceremony. As ’awa was poured into the earth as an offering to the ’āina, we honored the land. Faherty is built on the pillars of family, sustainability, quality, community, and connection. Hawaiian culture is very much rooted in those same values. Kuleana, is the Hawaiian word for responsibility, and everyone we met embraced the Hawaiian value of mālama, a guiding principle that means to care for and respect the land, ocean, culture, and community. That commitment to community has never been more apparent than in the wake of last summer’s devastating fires in Lāhainā, as locals and non-locals have rallied together to offer aid and support. The mutual love of the island creates an interconnectedness. When you take the time to see past the resorts, visit the smaller communities, support the local businesses, and understand the culture, you’re no longer simply a visitor. May you too become a steward of this special land. Much aloha, Kerry Docherty, Co-founder & Chief Impact Officer

It’s no secret that the fashion industry has significant negative effects on both the environment and social welfare. As a clothing company, we acknowledge our role in these challenges, which is why we are dedicated to supporting legislation aimed at improving the industry. The Fashion Sustainability and Social Accountability Act (Fashion Act) introduces groundbreaking regulations. It mandates traceability in supply chains, sets carbon reduction goals, enhances worker conditions, and promotes transparency in wages and materials. As a New York-based family-led brand, we prioritize quality, inspired by the sun and waves. We are excited to announce that we support this legislation as it aligns with our values and ongoing sustainability efforts. The Fashion Act will spark a much-needed transformation, holding companies accountable and driving sustainability. We're proud to be part of this movement, leading the way towards a brighter, responsible future.

Our Director of Social Impact, Grace Han, stopped by The Untangling Circularity Podcast to talk about starting our resale program, Second Wave. If you’ve never sold one of your preloved favorites on Second Wave, now is the time. And if you’re a day one seller, start that wardrobe refresh now. All April long when you sell on Second Wave, we’re showing our thanks by offering you 120% in credit towards your next purchase on fahertybrand.com. Just select “store credit” instead of “direct payment” in your Second Wave account. Listen to the Episode here: https://lnkd.in/e72mXjJP And explore Second Wave here: https://lnkd.in/eFgpuxAp

Introducing Earth Month Take Back! We launched our online resale platform, Second Wave last summer to give pre-loved Faherty pieces a new home and continue our mission to make the fashion industry better and less harmful. Now, we’re taking the journey further. Introducing our Earth Month Take Back, where we’re bringing the Second Wave energy into our stores. From April 15th through the 28th, you can head to your closest Faherty location with the pre-loved Faherty styles you’re ready to part with and you’ll get something special off your next in-store purchase. Here’s how it works: 🌎 Bring in one piece = 10% off your in-store purchase 🌎 Bring in two pieces = 15% off your in-store purchase 🌎 Bring in three or more pieces = 20% off your in-store purchase and a reusable bag (while supplies last) *Must be Faherty Brand clothing garments (no socks or undergarments). Can be in any worn condition (i.e. needs repair or stained), but garments must be laundered for the health and safety of our team.
