After a spinal cord injury left her unable to walk, Calli's No. 1 goal was to walk out of our hospital. Our staff went straight to work utilizing nearly all the advanced equipment and technologies Encompass Health has to offer. Incorporating high intensity gait training assisted by our team of dedicated therapists, Calli was able to advance from using a walker with the assistance of two therapists to walking independently with forearm crutches within a few weeks. Calli's progress is a testament to her perseverance combined with our hard-working staff and amazing technology we provide our patients. Recovery goals are unique to every patient, and our care teams are committed to help them reach their goals after an illness or injury. Learn more: https://ehc.rehab/3QrAzYe

There is no better way to celebrate our patients' recoveries than the ringing of the independence bell. Heyward “Hank” Robertson was admitted to our Columbia, South Carolina location after an extended hospital stay. His therapy team had a great time working with him and watching his improvement, but perhaps our favorite part of his stay was when he rang the bell and walked out of our hospital. Congratulations, Hank, on your recovery! Encompass Health is committed to helping you get back to what matters most after an illness or injury. Our care team will design a plan specific to your needs. Learn more: https://ehc.rehab/4aQr5Ol

Lisa was hit by a truck as she was crossing the street one day after work. She had a traumatic brain injury and was hospitalized for two months. When she came to our rehabilitation hospital in Fayetteville, Arkansas, she had a long recovery ahead of her, but our staff met her with encouragement and support. With the help of physical therapy, Lisa went from not being able to sit up on her own to walking with a walker. Her occupational therapist helped her relearn how to dress herself, and speech therapists helped her with swallowing. With the help of all of those at Encompass Health, Lisa was able to gain confidence in herself after a devastating accident. Since her discharge, Lisa and her family visit Encompass Health regularly to show their thanks to our staff for their dedication. Lisa is still on the road to recovery, but she is now able to walk on her own with a cane, enjoy regular life with her friends and family and play with her new puppy, Spruce. With more than 160 locations in 37 states, we are here to help you recover and get back to what matters most after an illness or injury: https://ehc.rehab/3UcFywT

After an extended acute hospital stay, Diane was initially admitted to a skilled nursing facility. However, Diane wanted more intensive therapy to help her recover and regain her independence. She admitted to one of our rehabilitation hospitals and has completed occupational, physical and speech therapy. All disciplines incorporated strategies and interventions that reduce the symptoms of her Parkinson's disease and improve her overall function. Diane's therapy has even incorporated Parkinson's wellness recovery moves to enhance her coordination, balance and endurance to carryover into all aspects of daily living. "The therapy has helped me reduce my stiffness, helped with my walking and my overall confidence," she said. "I can now walk on my own. I am a fighter, and I don't give up. I am grateful for the therapy I received here." At Encompass Health rehabilitation hospitals, you will receive three hours of therapy a day, five days a week to help you recover and regain your independence after an illness or injury.
