As we move towards climate-neutral farming, the cow can be the how. Recently we brought together representatives from the full dairy value chain at South by Southwest (SXSW®) in Austin, Texas to discuss how the supply chain can work together to meet consumer expectations. Experts included a dairy farmer, a leading greenhouse gas emissions researcher, a technology company, the largest U.S. dairy cooperative and members from our Elanco team. To achieve climate-neutral farming in this decade, the panelists discussed: ☁️ Methane is the opportunity: Methane lasts about a decade in the atmosphere, but it’s 27x more potent than carbon dioxide at trapping heat – so smaller reductions create greater impact on temperature. 💵 Farmer profitability and sustainability must go hand in hand: Dairy farmers need scalable solutions to make their sustainability efforts profitable. 🥛 Carbon credit insets benefit the value chain: Food companies and retailers have made public commitments to collectively reduce their greenhouse gas emissions which can be achieved through carbon inset markets. #WeAreElanco #SustainableAgriculture #JuneDairyMonth

Parvovirus is estimated to affect more than 300,000 puppies a year,(1) yet only 44% of dog owners are aware of the disease and its symptoms(2). Feeding dairy cows Bovaer® (3-NOP), Elanco’s newest feed ingredient, provides a scalable and credible way for dairy farmers to benefit from being good stewards of the environment by being financially rewarded for implementing on-farm sustainability interventions. Using tools like UpLook™ by Elanco, an insights-based engine designed to quantify greenhouse gas emissions, farmers can quantify their emission reduction efforts and certify carbon credits for sale through platforms like Athian, a livestock carbon inset marketplace. Bovaer® (3-NOP) is a feed ingredient that suppresses an enzyme in the cow’s rumen that forms methane. Caring for the wellbeing of animals is our mission, but we can only do that if our global team is taken care of. Though #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth is coming to an end, it’s important to recognize and prioritize our wellbeing throughout the year. As part of our commitment to employee wellbeing, we established the Mental Health First Aider program in 2021. This initiative equips team members with the skills and training to support their own and others' mental health. With more than 125 trained Mental Health First Aiders around the world, these team members offer support by taking the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations regarding mental health struggles and work on action plans to safely and responsibly address any challenges. #WeAreElanco

The latest Bovaer® (3-NOP) announcement comes at a critical time to meet consumer demand for more sustainable foods.
