The leader in natural resource recovery

About us

Eden is a leader in sustainable natural resource recovery. We break rocks with electricity to maximize subsurface permeability. We believe that a more sustainable approach to natural resource recovery is critical to creating a carbon-neutral future. By using high-voltage electricity and proprietary modeling and reservoir characterization techniques, we can achieve precise fracture permeability enhancement, while preventing the high-water consumption and environmental risks associated with traditional hydraulic fracturing operations. With backing from public and private institutions, our next-generation rock permeability enhancement technology is being demonstrated in multiple geologies across the world. We’re working with industry leaders in geothermal energy, geologic hydrogen, carbon storage, and mining to redefine how we recover Earth’s natural resources. Vice President - Innovation at BHP

This week, my colleague Soledad Barbera and I had the opportunity to spend time in Boston with our partners at Eden and SiTration, Inc. while attending an industry round table event at MIT, expertly facilitated by Elsa Olivetti and Ron Spangler. It’s been a truly inspiring few days talking with our mining peers and the brilliant faculty members at MIT about how we can come together as an industry to unlock the resources the world needs to decarbonise, enabled by collaboration to develop new technology systems to reimagine the mining industry. We can do so much more together than alone to solve the challenges we face to supply the critical minerals the world needs. Awesome to see the exciting progress at both Eden and SiTration too. We’re very enthusiastic about these partnerships and excited to be a part of their journey to transform mining. At Think & Act Differently, Powered by BHP we are growing our ecosystem of innovators to deliver resources in new ways. We welcome and support innovators from any industry to collaborate to tackle complex challenges and accelerate the best mining technology solutions.

It’s hard to pick, but for Eden the highlight of SF Climate Week may have been the panel hosted by Anglo American and Activate, “Unleashing early-stage startup potential with corporate venture capital - Perspectives from corporate venture investors and startups.” Eden’s corporate investors have been crucial in accelerating our tech’s journey to market. Eden's Co-Founder and President Ammar Alali was honored to speak alongside Tomás Rauch, representing one of our strongest supporters, TechEnergy Ventures, Ishaq Ahmad from Decarb Ventures and Olivia Dippo, the founder of Limelight Steel. Thank you to Nikhil B. Gargeya at Activate for hosting! 🏙 🌲 🌏 #SFClimateWeek #GreenCapital #GreenTechnology

Thank you Jamie Beard, MIT Lincoln Laboratory and Project InnerSpace for two incredible days of knowledge exchange between researchers in aerospace, defense, geothermal, and oil and gas, all working on technologies to withstand extreme pressure and temperature. Eden is proud to be developing technology to efficiently harvest geothermal heat at extreme temperatures and depths. 🌎 🌋 ⚡  #NextGenGeothermal  #GeothermalLiftoff Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gYdWV4tt

InnerSpace has been at work on gathering momentum for technology transfer from oil and gas into #geothermal over the past few years. An exciting space that is now firmly off to the races. So now what? The next frontier in removing barriers in the way of massive growth of next generation geothermal is the 20% or so of challenges that oil and gas technology transfer can’t solve - think the really high temp stuff - for drilling, but also for completions and O&M. We just wrapped an intense two day journey into this frontier - where we convened 20 oil and gas entities and geothermal startups, and with 8 teams of MIT researchers who are on the forefront of ultra high temperature and pressure research for #defense and #space. It was purposefully small and we adopted Chatham house to promote candor and open sharing amongst entities. And my goodness I’ve not ended a week this excited in a long time. Turns out that a lot of the “toughest” ultra high temp challenges we may encounter in next generation geothermal over the coming years have already been solved and deployed in the defense and space exploration contexts. In some instances, this is just about technology adaptation and form factor evolution. Congrats to the #oil and #gas leaders in attendance and to MIT Lincoln Laboratory for defining the #bleedingedge of next generation geothermal. Let’s build. And of course - Team InnerSpace, y’all are rock stars. Watch this space…(see what I did there) 🚀 🔥🔥🔥

The U.S. Oman strategic dialogue held in DC in April was an excellent opportunity to convene the parties supporting Eden's work on geologic hydrogen in Oman. Only something with as much power and potential as geologic hydrogen could bring leaders from the Oman Ministry of Energy and Minerals (MEM), the US DOE, Eden, and Newlab together. 🗻 ⚡ 💡 🌏 Thank you Yousuf Al Azri, Dr. Saleh Al-Saadi, Khalil Al Hanashi, Ph.D., Dan Milstein, and Sahil Jain for working with Eden. Explore Geothermal Energy: A sustainable future within reach! Geothermal energy, by capturing the heat from the Earth's core, has the potential to be a game-changer in the clean energy race. It is a reliable and renewable energy source, and, unlike intermittent solar and wind, is available at all times. The challenge? Accessing the hotter, more powerful geothermal resources that lie deeper underground. In TechEnergy Ventures we are on a mission to unlock this potential. We are investing and supporting companies that are working on the three levers that will make geothermal energy competitive anywhere, developing cutting-edge technologies to: - Drill deeper and hotter to produce more power, even reaching supercritical heat (500°C) at depths of 10-20 km with 10x power output! - Harvest heat efficiently: Extracting more energy from rock formations. - Convert geothermal heat into electricity more efficiently These advances could revolutionize geothermal energy, making it a cheap and abundant clean energy source for the future.
