Venture capital investors are increasingly looking to back startups that can combine profits with altruism. Venture capitalist Ron Levin says that recognition of the fundamental distinction between sustainable and unsustainable business practices is one of the reasons why the rise of socially conscious organizations is one of the most encouraging trends in venture capital investing today.

Vishal Patel, Duke CE’s president of global markets, says that an instinctual response to AI would be understandable, but ultimately unwise. In his seminal business book, ‘Thinking, Fast and Slow,’ the late Daniel Kahneman laid out two distinct types of thinking: Type 1, instinct or intuition; and Type 2, slower, deliberate thinking.
