The Diocese of Austin was founded in November 1947 as the seventh diocese in Texas by Pope Pius XII. The diocese, comprised of 127 parishes, or faith communities, and 23 schools, is home to more than 700,000 Catholics across 25 counties in Central Texas. Bishop Joe S.
