Dinsmore’s Louisville office took time recently to commemorate Juneteenth and celebrate Pride. During a special lunch at the office, everyone enjoyed delicious cultural dishes. A special thank you to Judge Denise Clayton who stopped by to discuss her experience as a Black woman working her way up in the legal community. On Friday, the office hosted a Pride Month luncheon with the Fairness Campaign’s Chris Hartman. Chris gave attorneys and business professionals a presentation on Kentucky legislation and fairness laws that impact the LGBTQ community.

In a recent issue of the Kentucky Bar Association's Bench and Bar Magazine, Dinsmore partner John Merchant was recognized for his contributions at the Pioneers for Progress celebration hosted by the University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law in collaboration with the University of Kentucky Alumni Association’s Lyman T. Johnson Alumni Constituency Group. The event honored African American alumni, celebrating their achievements and contributions. A lunch panel featured notable law alumni, including John Merchant, Debra Merchant and David Olinger. The panelists shared their career experiences and reflections on their time in law school. John emphasized the strong sense of community among the small group of Black students saying, “It was important for us to make sure that we all made it.” The celebration also included a reception and the unveiling of the new Pioneers for Progress wall outside the G. Chad Perry III Grand Courtroom, followed by a discussion on the impact of Lyman T. Johnson's landmark court case. UK’s senior assistant dean of community engagement and operations moderated the panel, underscoring the importance of acknowledging the sacrifices made by past graduates to pave the way for current and future students.
