Reflecting on the unforgettable installation of "John Chamberlain: The Tighter They’re Wound, The Harder They Unravel," curated by Urs Fischer and held at the Aspen Art Museum from December 2023 to April 2024. This exhibition featured 50 vibrant sculptures by John Chamberlain, crafted from foam, aluminum foil, and Tonka Toys. With some of these masterpieces nearly 12 feet tall and weighing over 2,500 lbs, the installation presented unique logistical challenges. Our Crozier team rose to the occasion, demonstrating exceptional skill and dedication in handling and installing these remarkable works. Transporting and installing such diverse and large-scale pieces in Aspen's difficult terrain required meticulous planning and custom solutions. To celebrate Museum Week, we're taking a trip down memory lane to highlight our collaboration with the National Air and Space Museum on their monumental renovation project. With artifacts as large as jet planes, this was no small task! We were responsible for moving over 2,700 artifacts first out of the museum and then back into their newly redesigned galleries. This massive project took seven years to complete and required our expertise in rigging, disassembling, inventorying, condition reporting, packing, and transporting. Last week, in collaboration with Christie's and industry experts, we discussed strategies to expand sea freight—a significantly more sustainable alternative to air transport. Together with our esteemed speakers—Paul Dickinson, Cliodhna Murphy, Bethany Pirie, James Ferrer, and Yula Rocha—we concluded that success in adopting this environmentally preferable option depends on identifying shipments best suited for sea freight and fostering better communication and collaboration across our industry.
