A newly introduced bill aims to address critical gaps in rural healthcare infrastructure by incorporating several technical improvements to the Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) statute. Under the proposed legislation, previously closed rural hospitals could reopen with an REH designation if they can demonstrate compliance with eligibility requirements between Jan. 1, 2015, and Dec. 27, 2020.
