  • When we feel self-conscious or embarrassed, our internal spotlight becomes a harsh critic, amplifying our perceived flaws and shortcomings. We assume that others are just as focused on these shortcomings as we are, however most people are too preoccupied with their own lives, thoughts, and insecurities to devote much attention to us. Check out this article on the spotlight effect. #spotlighteffect #shortcomings #selfawareness #selfconsciousness #collectivecollaboration

  • Conversations around healthcare and AI are becoming more common as the sector continues to adopt and integrate AI technology to improve patient care, increase operational efficiency, and drive innovation. Some major themes and discussions in this sector observe: ·        Ethical implications of employing AI in healthcare, such as patient privacy, data security, algorithm bias, and accountability; ·        How diagnostics and imaging through AI-powered tools and imaging algorithms shape the way diseases are discovered and treated; ·        How individualized medicine allows for the development of customized treatment strategies; ·        Focus on adoption of telemedicine platforms and remote monitoring which has increased access to healthcare services, improved patient engagement, and has the potential of aiding in the reduction of healthcare disparities; ·        Focused on revolutionizing the drug discovery process by analyzing the vast amounts of biomedical data to identify potential drug candidates, predict drug interactions, and accelerate the development of new therapies; ·        Addressed/Observed the impact of AI on the healthcare workforce, including the role of healthcare providers, the need for upskilling and training in newer technologies, understanding that AI will augment rather than replace human clinicians in delivering patient care; and ·        Mostly importantly regulatory considerations in developing guidelines and criteria to ensure the responsible, ethical and equitable use of AI in healthcare. • According to a 2022 poll, 49 percent of recent graduates felt underqualified for entry-level positions, and nearly three in four companies noted problems with recruiting graduates with the soft (essential) skills required to fill open roles. Career readiness is a critical component of the college experience. As much as it is a responsibility of educators and essential staff to help scholars navigate the system, it is important for scholars to prioritize their own career development and readiness. If you are a college scholar, here are some tips to help you prepare for your future:   1. Start networking: Connect with professionals in your potential sector or industry on LinkedIn, at career fairs, and during informative interviews. Building relationships with people in industry might lead to mentorship, internships and job offers.   2. Gain relevant experience: Look for internships, part-time work, or volunteer opportunities that match your career goals. Hands-on experience will not only boost your résumé, but will also help you develop valuable essential (soft) skills, as well as technical skills. Programs like The Talent Bridge (https://lnkd.in/ez7gXiDV) offer STEM related internship opportunities at startups. #talentbridge #paidinterships   3. Develop your skills: Take advantage of workshops, seminars, and online courses to enhance your knowledge and stay current about opportunities within your industry. Employers like applicants who are proactive in their professional development. Typically, your college/ university offers free events where invited guests may be from industry. The events often provide the opportunity to engage with them and many offer the opportunity to serve as a mentor, which can provide you with a huge advantage.   4. Create a strong resume and cover letter: Career services is an often-underutilized resource. Career services assists scholars with their career development and planning, such as gathering information on companies, current job openings, and hiring processes, as well as navigating the transition from school to career. They can also assist with resume and cover letter writing to help you underscore your relevant experience and talents, and highlight your successes including how they relate to the employment requirements. Programs like SCSU BioPath are a great resource for connecting scholars to workshops, resources, mentors and internships.   5. Practice interviewing: Prepare for interviews by reviewing popular interview questions, rehearsing with a friend or career counselor, and fine-tuning your answers. Achieving success in an interview requires both confidence and preparedness.   Career development is a continuous process, stay proactive and open to new opportunities. Best of luck on your #careerjourney!   #careerdevelopment #careerreadiness #collegestudents #networking #skillsdevelopment #resumetips #interviewprep #collectivecollaboration #Connecticut

  • Social media has become an essential resource for fund development (fundraising), allowing organizations to reach a larger audience and engage potential donors in a more personal and interactive way. Non profit organizations (specifically) can leverage platforms like Meta, Twitter (X), LinkedIn and TikTok to generate awareness around their cause, and create captivating content that highlights their impact and mission while encouraging supporters to donate. With the right strategy and appealing content, social media can be an effective tool for broadening reach, communicating with supporters, and eventually enhancing fundraising efforts #funddevelopment #nonprofit #socialmediastrategy #socialmediatips #fundraisingtips #collectivecollaboration

  • The American Intellectual Property Law Association honors women in IP law through a global network of events. The purpose is to bring together intellectual property practitioners from around the world for a day of networking, education, and making significant connections. This year's topic, Cultivating Leaders, provided an opportunity to nurture and develop future leaders in innovation, technology, and law. Last night, Cantor Colburn LLP hosted the session in Hartford, CT, which featured remarks from Dean Eboni Nelson, Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law. She highlighted eight leadership lessons, including her personal trials and accomplishments. Her speech was profound and inspiring, encouraging the audience full of dynamic, diverse, and eclectic women to not only believe in their capabilities, but to walk in confidence. Eight Lessons in Leadership 1. Be creative (Innovative) and trust in your abilities. 2. Rejection can often lead to reward. 3. The way you say things and the way you treat others matters. 4. Central to effective leadership is effective communication and a willingness to collaborate. 5. Integrity matters - Leadership can often feel lonely, however it is our privilege and responsibility to always do what is right. 6. Don't be afraid of difficult conversations (this is where cultivation takes place and this is what will propel you to grow) 7. Be true to yourself and the goals you set for yourself. 8. Success requires sacrifice - not sacrifice as a detriment, but as strategic intelligent decisions that propel you forward. #confidence #integrity #leadership #innovation #effectivecommunication #collaboration
