Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Kade Bruce of the Springville Regional Composite Squadron is the first cadet from Missouri Wing to become an instructor pilot for small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS), commonly known as drones. Bruce is also one of only two cadets in Civil Air Patrol’s seven-wing North Central Region, and only six in the entire organization, with that distinction. #CivilAirPatrol #CAPCadet #GoFlyCAP

A mother and daughter from our Indiana Wing were recently honored for attaining Civil Air Patrol’s top training achievements. Capt. Carol O’Brien, St. Joe Valley Cadet Squadron commander, received the Gill Robb Wilson Award — the highest level of CAP career development geared towards executive leadership. Her daughter, Cadet Col. Caitlin O’Brien, received the Gen. Carl A. Spaatz Award — earned by less than one-half of 1% of cadets — for completing the cadet program’s 16 achievements. #CivilAirPatrol #CAPCadet

Taking to the skies with our national commander, Maj. Gen. Edward Phelka, was a rare and memorable experience for several Civil Air Patrol cadets from the Mississippi and Georgia wings. Besides the unforgettable orientation flights, Phelka provided ground instruction, oversaw preflight inspection, and discussed operations and maneuvers with the cadets. We recognize Cadet 2nd Lt. Abby Matsuyoshi of our Arizona Wing's Willie Composite Squadron 304 this Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. A proud fifth-generation Japanese American, Matsuyoshi's determination earned her a private pilot certificate through CAP's Cadet Wings Program.
