Here at Longo’s, we're committed to operating sustainably today for a brighter tomorrow. As we reflect on our journey, we’re proud to celebrate some key milestones: 🌍 First grocery retailer in Canada to offer battery recycling services in all our stores through Call2Recycle / Appel à Recycler Canada . In 2023, we recycled 1800kg of batteries and we're on track to double that in 2024! 🌍 8 of our stores and our Support Centre have solar panels, reducing reliance on electrical grids. In 2023, we generated 1,800,000 kWh of solar energy! 🌍Last year, we partnered with Jule to implement 7 high-speed, electric chargers at our North Oakville store in support of green mobility. We plan to implement more EV chargers at additional stores in 2024. 🌍Aligned with this year’s theme, People vs Plastics, we’re still celebrating eliminating single-use plastic bags across our stores at point-of-sale in 2022. 🌍 We were honoured to receive the 2023 Canadian Grocer Impact Award for Sustainability for our efforts to minimize refrigerant emissions. While we are proud of all we’ve accomplished, we know we’ve got lots more to do. Want to learn more about our strategy? Our 2023 Sustainability Report just launched, centered around 3 key pillars: Environmental Stewardship, Responsible Sourcing, and Healthy, Happy People – https://lnkd.in/d3mh7JeC #Sustainability #BrighterTomorrow 🌍💚
