People-focused media, services, and software to make the Dirt World a better place.

About us

BuildWitt was founded in 2018 with a simple but ambitious mission: make the Dirt World a better place. Aaron Witt was just a kid who loved construction and got a job laying pipe when he was 18. It was easy to see that some of the most interesting and talented people worked in the industry, so he started telling their stories. And it caught on. But what started with a kid and a camera has become so much more — an opportunity to push the industry we know and love forward to create an even #BetterDirtWorld.

Fixing the I-95 bridge in Philly after it caught fire and collapsed last year. — On June 11, 2023, a tanker truck carrying gasoline caught fire beneath the overpass that carries Interstate 95 at an interchange in the Tacony neighborhood of Northeast Philadelphia. The extreme heat caused the northbound lanes to collapse and damaged the southbound lanes, closing roughly nine miles (14 km) of both directions of I-95. The swift construction of a temporary roadway enabled traffic to resume on June 23rd, less than two weeks after the fire. — These are some of the final steps of reconstruction caught by Billy Kyle on his drone. The bridge has now been fully repaired.

Welcome to electronic blasting! — What Aaron is using in this video is called a Remote Firing System. It’s used to detonate explosive charges from a safe distance. These are seen in mines across the world daily and help break up the ground in preparation for the digging and loading of ore. Mining isn’t the only thing they’re used for! Similar technology can be found in the remote detonation of fireworks and military operations across the world! — To see this full blast in action head on over to YouTube and search Aaron Witt!
