What would happen if you stopped responding to clients outside of your business hours? Would you ever consider implementing a policy of charging more for after-hours work? That’s exactly what Katie Test Davis has done with her business Forthright Advising, and her clients are still happy, and her team is happier, too. Initially, Katie was nervous about launching this policy and thought it might deter the business’s dream clients from working with them. Instead, it has become a valuable screener to ensure they’re working with the right people who share their values of putting people first. This policy has become a way to communicate the team’s boundaries and ensure that everyone is working intentionally when they do work outside of business hours. It has allowed Katie to hire incredible talent and ensure they’re able to do their best work, and it has helped her (and, therefore, her company) thrive. If you’re curious about implementing this for your own business, read on to learn more about how Katie’s team launched and communicated this policy:

Here's a behind-the-scenes look at how I create and schedule social content for Buffer: -Our content calendar lives in Notion, giving us a clear overview of what’s planned -We schedule posts on a weekly basis so we can be flexible and move things around if we need to -Mondays and Tuesdays are dedicated to creating content and drafting posts for the upcoming week -By Wednesday, all posts for the next week are ready for review -On Thursdays, I schedule everything in Buffer for the following week -For posts that can't be scheduled in Buffer, I use Trello to set reminder notifications for manual posting (but Buffer will be adding some new features soon so I most likely won’t need to do this anymore 👀) -I always use Buffer’s calendar view to triple-check that everything is scheduled correctly Excitingly, our team is exploring ways to integrate the Buffer Create space with the calendar, and it’s likely I would start moving things from Notion into Buffer for our content calendar when that happens! We’re also working on adding more scheduling features with notifications, which means I might not need Trello for those extra posts soon. If you have any questions about my process or suggestions for improvement, I'd love to hear them! What's your content creation and scheduling process like?
