Our CFO will be retiring and we're looking for an experienced CFO to join our organization. The Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a critical role at BS&L, reporting directly to the President and CEO. This executive leadership position is responsible for managing the bank's financial actions, including planning, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will provide strategic financial guidance to ensure the bank's financial commitments are met, while also implementing policies and procedures that will contribute to its financial health and compliance with the banking regulations. Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and finance roles in a depository institution with at least 3 years in a leadership position, as well as comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial markets, banking regulations and strategic financial planning and budgeting. John brings many years of banking experience to the job, having spent a good deal of his banking career working with Ridgewood Savings Bank which, like BS&L, is also a mutual savings bank. Most recently, he was the Vice President of Bank Administration where he worked in the operations side of the organization. Prior to that, he grew his experience on the retail side of banking as the Regional Manager for ten of Ridgewood’s branches. As an avid hiker, John was looking for a new place to call home and Vermont—and BS&L—fit the bill perfectly. “I wanted to work for a mutual savings bank that had an authentic commitment to a community service focus,” says John. “The people here at the bank are amazing and they reflect the values of this community. I also really see how my skills fit into where the bank is going.” “We’re so happy to have John on board,” says Theresa Masiello, Senior Vice President and Senior Retail Officer at BS&L. “John brings a lot of skill and experience as well as understanding what it means to work for a true community bank like us.”

A little feel good news from BS&L's Walk The Walk Day on December 5th. Some of our staff gathered at the bank to put together gift baskets for the holidays. These were distributed to families who might not have had as bright a Christmas without them and the food given away in the baskets totaled over 220 lbs this year.
