Insightful stats from Bitsight's scanning engine around the recent OpenSSH backdoor discovery in a compression library. My main takeaways: - ~38M instances of OpenSSH exposed to the internet on ~37M IP addresses - 252 different distinct ports, including those typically used for HTTP[s], email services, and remote access services - 70% running some form of OpenSSH, 24% dropbear - Others include Cisco, Huawei, Zyxel, Serv-U, MOVEit (remember that service?), and Crestron—home & business automation - Over 50% are running a Linux kernel that uses systemd, the component used to load the backdoored library - and finally, most organizations aren't keeping their Linux distros up-to-date—although the good news is most are updating them to at least versions receiving security support https://ow.ly/7ePZ50ShXBX #BitsightTRACE
