Watch Justin Jones-Fosu, author of I Respectfully Disagree, on News Channel 5 while he unpacks how to have difficult conversations while still treating each other like humans. https://buff.ly/4bSp3Og 📚 I Respectfully Disagree by Justin Jones Fosu Start building bridges instead of barriers! This essential guide offers a simple 5-part framework that will help you have honest and enlightening conversations despite deep and fundamental disagreements. Divisions are on the rise around the world, and 2024 may well be a peak year. We’re losing the ability to disagree without dehumanizing. There is a deep need for this practical and accessible guide to having challenging conversations in any situation, from the workplace to the classroom to the dinner table. It’s not about saying the right words at the right time but something vastly deeper. In this book, you’ll discover the 5 pillars of respectfully disagreeing: ▶️ Challenge your perspective ▶️ Be the student ▶️ Cultivate your curiosity ▶️ Seek the gray ▶️ Agree to respect But this is not a weighty tome. Each chapter features a cartoon, and Justin Jones-Fosu tackles this serious subject with a playful and compassionate tone. For example, he writes “I have become more and more intentional in my desire to respectfully disagree with others (except those who think putting ketchup on eggs is wrong…there is no hope for respect there).” With a wide range of examples and exercises throughout, this is a timely and reader-friendly handbook to disagreeing with someone’s ideology while passionately pursuing their humanity. #books #politics #communication

This is a first in my career--opening the FIRST box of books from the printer together with the authors before any of us has seen the actual item! The book is THE CULTURALLY CONSCIOUS BOARD, which is a wise and accessible book on board cultures--here I am with authors Jennifer Jukanovich and Russ West, who were visiting my hometown. Kudos to the entire BK team, but a special shout to Ashley Ingram for a stupendous cover--it looks even better in person!

So this just happened…while our book The Culturally Conscious Board officially launches on September 3, the publisher Berrett-Koehler Publishers did an early release for a training we host on board culture for the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust. What a gift it was to do the unboxing with our colleagues who helped give birth to this project. And a double blessing was to have our publisher Neal Maillet there in person with us for the unboxing. More to come, but Russell W. West, Ph.D. and I are beyond thrilled to see this in print. Preorders will continue until the official launch, so order your copy via our website https://lnkd.in/enuPqJmv.

Happy pub day to Escaping the Growth Curse by Yves Doz and Keeley Wilson! You can pick up your copy from your favorite book seller or direct from BK https://buff.ly/45awPk1 📚 ABOUT THE BOOK 📚 Sustainable company growth isn’t just a pipedream. This 3-part blueprint is your guide to avoiding the traps that cause growth to stall. As companies mature, their underlying growth naturally slows—this is called the ‘growth curse’. It’s a pervasive problem that plagues companies, CEOs, and board members alike. In order to safeguard a company’s future, a strategic form of governance in which the board plays a more active role on behalf of all stakeholders, must be activated. This book is comprised of 3 parts. First it shows companies how to identify the traditional traps that hinder growth. The second part provides companies with a blueprint for building their board, defining long-term strategy, and adjustments necessary to serve continued growth. The final part delves into the specific ways that the board and executives must collaborate in relation to strategic renewal. Reimagining the limits of growth and how companies are run as a consequence provides an escape from the ‘growth curse’ at last. #businessbooks #books INSEAD

Wow! Congratulations to Ludmila Praslova, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, Âû and The Canary Code: A Guide to Neurodiversity, Dignity, and Intersectional Belonging at Work on being named one of the 10 Best New Management Books for 2024 by Thinkers50! 📚 ABOUT THE BOOK Currently, despite their skills and work ethics, members of ADHD, autism, Tourette Syndrome, learning differences, and related communities face drastic barriers to hiring and advancement. In the U.S., 30-40% of neurodivergent people and 85% of autistic college graduates struggle with unemployment. Like canaries in the mine, they are impacted by issues that ultimately harm everyone. Lack of flexibility, transparency, and psychological safety excludes neurodivergent, disabled, and multiply marginalized talent—and leaves most employees stressed and disengaged. This unique book is a guide to change-making for CEOs, managers, HR leaders, and everyone who wants to contribute to building a more inclusive world. The authors’ over 25 years of experience spanning global diversity to neurodiversity leadership and extensive research on innovative practices of uniquely inclusive organizations around the world inform this books’: ▶️ Explicitly intersectional approach to (neuro)inclusion ▶️ Holistic understanding of humans and their social, cognitive, emotional, and physical differences. ▶️ Holistic approach to organizational talent practices, from creating job descriptions and recruiting to onboarding, performance management, and leadership development. ▶️ A globally inclusive approach that centers, celebrates and invites multiple voices from the neurodivergent community. ▶️ A “lead from where you are” approach to change-making. This groundbreaking book combines the lived experience with academic rigor, innovative thought leadership, and lively, accessible writing. To support different types of readers, academic, applied, and lived experience content is clearly identified, helping readers choose their own adventure. #DEI #Leadership #Books Thinkers50

    📙 The Canary Code | Professor, Organizational Psychology & Business | Culture | HR | Systemic Intersectional Inclusion | Belonging | Wellbeing | 🚫 Moral Injury | Neurodiversity | Autism @ Work | Global Diversity |

💛I feel honored, humbled, and happy to share that “The Canary Code: A Guide to Neurodiversity, Dignity, and Intersectional Belonging at Work” is named one of the Top 10 Best New Management Books for 2024 by Thinkers50. Thinkers50 is the global authority on #management thought leadership headquartered in the UK. Being recognized alongside these thought leaders, some of whom I’ve been following for years, is quite surreal! And having a book focused on #neurodiversity and intersectional belonging on a major management book list is a first and hopefully the sign of a more inclusive future, more inclusive #HumanResources practices, more inclusive work. The list has 3 criteria: ☑ Relevance: does the book address a current, pressing issue or challenge? ☑ Rigour: is the book well researched and based on real-world examples? ☑ Readability: is the book accessible, insightful, and inspiring? Authors could not nominate their own books. I am beyond grateful to the people who nominated my book and to Thinkers50 for recognizing the need for and the potential of neuroinclusive work. The Canary Code is really in an amazing company. Other books on the list are: 📖 ‘Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things’ by Adam Grant 📖 ‘Move Fast and Fix Things: The Trusted Leader’s Guide to Solving Hard Problems’ by Frances Frei and Anne Morriss 📖 ‘Right Kind of Wrong: Why Learning to Fail Can Teach Us to Thrive’ by Amy Edmondson 📖 ‘Autonomous Transformation: Creating a More Human Future in the Era of AI’ by Brian Evergreen 📖 ‘Tech for Good: Imagine Solving the World’s Greatest Challenges’ by Margaretha Hoek 📖 ‘The Anxious Achiever: Turn Your Biggest Fears into Your Leadership Superpower’ by Morra Aarons-Mele 📖 ‘The Bonfire Moment: Bring Your Team Together to Solve the Hardest Problems Startups Face’ by Martin Gonzalez and Joshua Yellin 📖 ‘Work-Life Bloom: How to Nurture a Team that Flourishes’ by Dan Pontefract 📖 ‘The Case for Good Jobs: How Great Companies Bring Dignity, Pay, and Meaning to Everyone's Work’ by Zeynep Ton To have my book on this list is truly an honor:🙏🙏 📖 ‘The Canary Code: A Guide to Neurodiversity, Dignity, and Intersectional Belonging at Work’ by Ludmila Praslova, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, Âû I am very grateful! Thank you to all the readers, Berrett-Koehler Publishers, and the neurodivergent community. This could not have happened without you.
