Our last "SNAP OF THE WEEK" of the school year went to Jill Friedman, SHRM-CP, our Director of HR & Talent. Jill recently returned from leave after welcoming her baby boy in January. We have so many awesome working parents at BBYO, which is possible due to our incredible benefits program and work-life integration model. We understand that balancing work and family life can be challenging, which is why we are committed to providing exceptional benefits for our employees. Here are some of the ways we support our team: • We offer flexible working hours that allow employees to create schedules that allow them to meet their job requirements while managing interests and demands outside of work. • We provide generous parental leave (up to 16 weeks) to ensure that new parents can spend quality time with their newborns without the stress of work obligations. • We promote a healthy work-life balance through various programs and initiatives, including wellness programs and mental health resources. • We provide the option of bringing young children requiring parental care on specific BBYO sponsored business travel The importance of family is central to BBYO's core values. When our team members feel valued and supported, they can bring their best selves to work, driving our mission forward and creating a positive impact on our community. Interested in joining our team? Parents! We invite you to join us for an important event on Tuesday, May 28 at 8:15 PM ET, Screams Before Silence: A Jewish Community Conversation with Sheryl Sandberg and Sheila Katz. Screams Before Silence is a powerful documentary that delves into the harrowing sexual violence perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, featuring firsthand accounts from released hostages, survivors, and first responders. Sheryl Sandberg, BBG Alumna, and Sheila Katz, CEO of the National Council of Jewish Women, will lead a discussion on the critical need to bear witness, amplify the silenced voices of the victims, and seek justice. Let’s come together to support and learn from this vital community dialogue. Register here: bit.ly/3KhUC7Z.

As antisemitism, harassment, and discrimination continue to rise, we invite you to join the Jewish community for a special conversation tomorrow, May 24th at 12:30 PM ET led by U.S. Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, Deborah Lipstadt and Admiral John Kirby, who will delve into the alarming surge in antisemitism since October 7. You'll learn why this isn’t just a matter of concern to the Jewish community, but a direct threat to democracy and national security. You'll gain insights into how the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. government in general, are addressing Jew-hatred around the world and why a comprehensive, whole-of-society approach is more critical now than ever before. Don’t miss this opportunity to be informed, engaged, and empowered to counter antisemitism. Join virtually by registering here: bit.ly/3ytOruN.

Congratulations to the Michigan Region staff team on all of their well-deserved awards. Three of our professionals in this region were recently recognized for their dedication and hard work as they have each truly made a significant impact on our organization. Jennifer Frank, Director of Philanthropy, was awarded the Behind the Scenes award. This award recognizes our silent heroes, those who quietly do the important work that very few people see but is so essential to our goals at BBYO. The Behind-the-Scenes award recognizes a staff member who is exceptional at leading from the back or doing any backend work that rarely gets a spotlight. Sari Kripke, Social Worker, was awarded the Summer Spotlight award. The Summer Spotlight Award recognizes a professional that does an exceptional job at or in support of a BBYO Summer Leadership Program or Israel program. This award recognizes extra effort either during the program or in the months leading up to the program that is not considered within the basic scope of year-round job duties. Shayna Pearlman, Associate Regional Director, was awarded the Innovation award. This award celebrates our dreamers, outside-the-box thinkers, and those who are not afraid to take a risk. This recognizes someone who really moved the needle in a creative way, changing the way we do something in BBYO for the better. Join us in congratulating Jen, Sari, and Shayna! #awards #staffcelebration #aboveandbeyond #behindthescenes #summerspotlight #innovation
