We're kicking off #AccesstoJustice Month with a "thank you" to everyone who has attended the Court's 2024 Legal Futures events so far this year! Legal Futures is an annual event that brings together diverse high school and community college students to spend time with legal professionals and explore career opportunities in the legal field. Students get to hear directly from judges, lawyers, and paralegals, and even work on a mock legal scenario developed by University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law! This year the event has expanded to six locations across the state!

If you receive a call asking you to pay fines for missing jury duty – you’re getting scammed. In the Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County, fines associated with missing jury duty can only be ordered by a judge in court – not over the phone. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gpNgY9jE If targeted by a jury scam, write down the phone number of the caller and then call police. Do not give the caller any personal information or agree to provide any payment. Scam perpetrators will do all they can to insist you stay on the phone with them the entire time. This is a red flag. When in doubt, a person may verify their jury service status by calling the jury office at 602-506-5879. Visit https://lnkd.in/gAjWuAR9

We'll see you next time, ASU! ⚖️ The Court made its way to the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in downtown Phoenix on Thursday for Oral Arguments on the Road. After arguments, law students got the chance to join a Q&A session with the justices—posing insightful questions about the ins and outs of oral arguments. “The only way to prepare is moot court. Over and over again if it’s a really big case,” said Justice Bolick when answering a student’s question on how to prepare for arguments. Justices then sat with students and faculty for more one-on-one time over lunch. We're grateful for the opportunity to take oral arguments on the road and spend time in communities around our state!
