During his workday, Andrew celebrates 100 years as an organization. Outside of work, he trains for 100 miles in 24 hours. #100Years100Miles Andrew Kluge, CNP our Senior Development Director of Northeast Ohio, is taking on this challenge this weekend at Eagle Up Ultra. Andrew's motivation isn't just about reaching the finish line; it's about testing his limits, both physically and mentally. His determination to defy expectations and achieve the extraordinary embodies the spirit of #TheAHALife as we mark a century of success this June. When asked about his drive, Andrew shared, "I've always been passionate about pushing my limits and challenging myself. Running 100 miles in 24 hours is the ultimate test of endurance, grit, and determination." Preparing for this monumental challenge wasn't easy. Andrew meticulously crafted a training regimen that included countless long runs, strength training, and mental preparation. As he puts it, "Mental preparation was just as important as the rest, so I spent time visualizing the race and developing strategies to stay motivated and focused throughout the 24 hours." Through it all, his team at his office in Ohio stood by his side. "I only recently let it slip that I'd be running this race, but they’ve been encouraging every step of the way. Their positive energy and belief in my ability has been a tremendous boost. Knowing that my colleagues are cheering me on has made a huge difference and has kept me motivated to keep pushing towards my goal." As Andrew laces up his running shoes and embarks on this incredible journey, he's not just running for himself – he's running for a cause, for his own personal growth, and for the collective spirit of our company as we hit 100 years. We're amazed by the determination and passion displayed by our employees, both in their professional roles and out. Drop a comment below to wish Andrew luck! 👏 #AHABoldHearts #TheAHALife

Discussions about smoking and air pollution often focus on cancer, asthma and other lung diseases. But what we inhale has a big effect on heart and brain health, too. As one scientist puts it: "You are what you breathe." Take a deep breath and catch up on how far science has come in the fight to protect people from pollution and smoking, and new challenges that are blowing in. #CleanAirMonth #WorldNoTobaccoDay http://spr.ly/6048dMq5r

Within #TheAHALife, we value our employees and the titles they hold both in and outside of work. Amanda Malone, our Associate Vice President of Development in Chicago, recently gained the new title of "Mom," to her happy and healthy son, Charlie. ❤️ At the American Heart Association, we are proud to offer benefits like Paid Family Leave to provide new parents bonding time and to give our employees the flexibility to care for family members without the worry of the stability of their jobs or finances. Hear from Amanda as she reflects on the gratitude she has to both be a mom and to work for an organization where she is seen, heard, and valued: "Yesterday I returned to work from my maternity leave with a new title: "Mom." I am so incredibly grateful for a healthy, happy baby. I am grateful for the time I was able to spend with him the past few months, and that my husband gets to be with him the rest of the summer. I am grateful to have a job that I love and that I am excited to come back to and for a team that I know kept moving the mission forward in my absence. They made it possible to fully step away and enjoy my time with my growing family. I am grateful to be a part of an organization that I know will be so gracious as I work to figure out my new rhythm as a working mom. I feel so supported by family, friends, and colleagues as I embark on this journey with this new title. My son makes the work that we do at the American Heart Association even more important to me – the work to support pregnant mothers, new moms, families, communities, and workplaces. The work that we do here at the Association to help everyone live longer, healthier lives, allows my little one to make memories with his loved ones for years to come. The work we do day in and day out has a whole new meaning to me, and I am excited to jump back in and pour my passion into my work while balancing being Charlie’s Mom." Thank you, Amanda, for your passionate contribution to advancing our mission. We also congratulate you on welcoming a new member to your family!
