Our partners at Milwaukee Area Technical College hosted a “Heavy Metal Tour" to expose high schoolers to career paths they might not have considered before and introduce them to opportunities in manufacturing. “The mission of Metallica’s All Within My Hands aligns perfectly with our mission, which is to offer an education that transforms lives, industry, and community. This funding will help students enroll in our high-quality, in-demand programs that meet local employer and community needs, leading to careers that provide family-supporting wages and better lives.” - MATC President Vicki J. Martin So far, 40 of #MATC’s first 49 #MetallicaScholars have graduated, and another four are expected to graduate in December! #MetallicaScholarsMonday #MonthOfGiving2024 #AWMH #MetallicaGivesBack "

About us
AWMH is a nonprofit, philanthropic organization created by the members and management of Metallica and dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services. 100% of donations go directly to the charities we support. Working with American Association of Community Colleges we established Metallica Scholars, a major workforce education initiative that provides direct support to community colleges to enhance their career and technical education programs. These programs provide skills and services to students who are looking to enter a traditional trade or other applied learning program. In partnership with Feeding America, we have been expanding our support of food banks across the country by establishing an annual Day of Service encouraging fans to volunteer at their local food banks. The third prong of our mission is to support critical local services. While workforce education and the fight against hunger remain our primary focus, it is important to both AWMH and Metallica to contribute where we can to disaster relief efforts. “We’re an international band – our music transcends all borders, all barriers, all boundaries. Why can’t our help do the same?” Kirk Hammett, Metallica guitarist

April is #NationalWeldingMonth, so we’ve got to shout out a special welding program! Hudson County Community College does so much to provide paths to a brighter future through workforce education. Among its many programs, the school offers welding courses to previously incarcerated students eager to reenter society. College President Dr. Reber is pictured with Metallica Scholar Anthony at last year's graduation. #MetallicaScholars funds covered Anthony's welding program tuition. We love seeing all our scholars, regardless of their past, take their future into their own hands and build a sustainable career through trade education! #AWMH #MetallicaGivesBack

The tools of the trade! 🛠️ This #MetallicaScholarsMonday, we are showing off the toolkit that Northwest Shoals Community College provides for students in the HVAC program with their #MetallicaScholars funding. Natalie was stoked to get hers, saying, “The Metallica Scholarship helped me get a big head start. Most HVAC jobs require that you supply your own tools, and I didn’t have any of my own. It was very anxiety-inducing and stressful to have so many tools that are required for the field and see how expensive they can be. I am so grateful to have been picked for the Metallica Scholarship since they are able to supply what every technician would need to get started in the field. I am now able to get into my apprenticeship and build a career that I can be proud of.” #MetallicaScholarsMonday #MetallicaScholars #AWMH #MetallicaGivesBack

Thank you for joining us on #InternationalWomensDay by shopping with Carhartt to raise $250,000 toward scholarships for women seeking education in the skilled trades! Five #MetallicaScholars schools - East Central College, Community College of Baltimore County, Grand Rapids Community College, SUNY Westchester Community College, and Western Dakota Technical College - will each receive $50,000 from the For the Love of Labor grant to support programs providing the next generation of hardworking women with the training and tools to take their future into their own hands. Hear from a few women involved with one of these beneficiaries: #GrandRapidsCC’s Heavy Metals - Women in Welding. 🔥 “When I received an email from GRCC with the subject line 'Women can be welders too!' I couldn't help but be intrigued. I immediately reached out to my mom and suggested that we take the class together. After all, we've always been a team, and this seemed like an exciting new adventure for both of us.” - Cheyenne Belonga and her mother, Tanya Contreras 🧰 “I know that I would like to work as a welder, but I’m not 100% sure what exactly I want to do. Definitely something creative, or maybe working with production for a band. I’m really interested in getting women into skilled trades. I’m working on creating a supportive network so that women can be successful. I loved this program. It has been phenomenal.” - Sydney Sayre #MetallicaScholarsMonday #Carhartt #ForTheLoveOfLabor #AWMH #MetallicaGivesBack #MetallicaScholars #WomensHistoryMonth

This week’s #MetallicaScholarsMonday story hits particularly close to home. Meet James, now a Driver/Technician for Guardian Barrier Services and a graduate of West Virginia University at Parkersburg. James learned of #AWMH and the #MetallicaScholars program nearly two years into his time at #WVUParkersburg, and as a huge Metallica fan who qualified for the scholarship, it was a match made in heaven. Enter #GuardianBarrierServices, a company you might be (unknowingly) very familiar with, especially if you’ve seen a show from the rail! Thanks to our partners at Wolverine Boots & Apparel, WVU Parkersburg students got to see #Metallica in Pittsburgh, where Guardian conducted a presentation for the students. James stood out thanks to his obvious interest in the field. Fast-forward a few months, and James was officially a member of the Guardian team, driving and operating trucks and equipment, hauling equipment and gear to different venues and festivals in the music industry, and working in the warehouse. What can we say? We love a full-circle Metallica Scholars/AWMH moment! Get to know our Metallica Scholars ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dgyi874Q #MetallicaGivesBack
