There’s a global diabetes epidemic. There’s also a shortage of nurses who are trained to help. But what if we could find those nurses by looking inside communities that need them? Nurses like Harry Ma in Stockton, Calif. He graduated from our Abbott Fund Scholars program at University of the Pacific. “Stockton gave me a lot,” he says. Now he’s giving back. The scholarship helped him earn his master’s degree in nursing with a specialization in diabetes care. His health care career will start in the place he was born and raised. A place he loves. “I owe it to Stockton. I owe it to my teachers. I owe it to everybody.” Read more here. https://abbo.tt/4b694Lc

Abbott is all about health. We’re working to support a healthier planet and honored to be included on the USA TODAY America’s Climate Leaders list for reducing carbon emissions.
Which companies are doing the best at reducing their #carbon footprint? That's a surprisingly difficult question to answer. Currently, there are no federal or even state requirements in place requiring companies to disclose how much they’re lowering their greenhouse gas emissions. To better understand which U.S. businesses are making progress, USA TODAY partnered with market research firm Statista to create the second annual America's Climate Leaders list. What's something that helps a person when they need it, but then goes away when it's not needed any longer? If you think this is a riddle, guess again. We designed our Esprit BTK System, now FDA-approved, to help support the artery until it can stay open on its own, then dissolve once it's healed. https://abbo.tt/3Wfqkdi ISI: https://abbo.tt/ESPRITBTK

What do you do when your child’s feeding journey looks different than you imagined? “As a mom, it’s frustrating when your feeding journey doesn’t go as dreamed about during your pregnancy. I didn’t anticipate not being able to breastfeed my son or to hold him the first few days. Working at Abbott, I turned to Similac for the nutrition he needed. It was a comfort to use a product that was developed and made by so many of the people I know and work with. Today, John Wyatt is a happy, healthy three-year-old!" -Brittney

What was going through your mind when your baby was born 6 weeks early? “We were devastated we couldn’t bring her home after she was born, but knew she had some catching up to do. What we didn't expect was for her to be in the hospital for 2.5 months. The whole experience was an emotional roller coaster. In addition, she needed more nutrients than what my breastmilk could provide. Her doctors recommended we supplement with Similac NeoSure to make sure she was getting the nutrition she needed to grow and gain weight. Working at Abbott, I knew NeoSure was a specialty formula for babies born prematurely. Now almost 2 years later, Ronnie is thriving, and I’m amazed at how strong she was then and still is now.” – Jenn
