While creativity is a key component of compelling copywriting, there's also a science to crafting copy that converts. Copywriting formulas, such as AIDA (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) or PAS (Problem, Agitation, Solution), provide a proven structure for your messages. These formulas can guide you in organizing your thoughts and presenting your information in a way that naturally leads readers toward taking the desired action.
-
I once saw a friend of mine stack one pizza on top of another, but inverted, and eat it like a sandwich. That image will stay with me for a very, very long time.
-
Certainly! The AIDA formula provides a structured approach to crafting copy that grabs attention, generates interest, stimulates desire, and prompts action. It's a concise way to guide your writing process and ensure your message effectively persuades your audience to take the desired action.
-
Absolutely, creativity is essential in copywriting, but combining it with a structured approach can significantly enhance its effectiveness. Copywriting formulas like AIDA and PAS provide a blueprint for creating persuasive messages that resonate with your audience. By following these frameworks, you ensure that your copy captures attention, builds interest, creates desire, and ultimately drives action. These formulas help organize your thoughts and guide you in crafting copy that speaks directly to your audience's needs and emotions, making it more likely to convert readers into customers. So, while creativity fuels your copy, leveraging proven formulas adds a strategic element that can boost its impact and effectiveness.
-
I believe essential copywriting tools for boosting website conversions are A/B Testing (like Optimizely), Keyword Research (such as SEMrush), Heatmap/Analytics (using Crazy Egg), and Grammar Guides (like Grammarly). Incorporating AIDA and PAS formulas ensures persuasive content driving conversions.

Understanding the psychological triggers that influence people's buying decisions can significantly enhance your copywriting effectiveness. Tools that delve into persuasion psychology provide insights into principles like social proof, scarcity, authority, and reciprocity. By applying these principles to your copy, you can create a more persuasive narrative that encourages website visitors to convert into customers.
-
The best way to persuade anyone is to - List down trigger points of that person What next? Now trigger them through words💙 And let those words do your work🤍
-
Understanding the psychology of persuasion is crucial for effective copywriting. Here’s how you can use psychological principles to boost website conversions: Reciprocity: Offer something valuable for free to encourage users to give something back, like their email addresses. Scarcity: Highlight limited availability to create urgency (e.g., "Only 3 spots left" or "Sale ends tomorrow"). Authority: Use expert endorsements or testimonials to build trust and credibility. Social Proof: Showcase customer testimonials and reviews to validate your offerings. Applying these principles can enhance the persuasiveness of your copy, leading to improved conversion rates. Robert Cialdini's "Influence" is a great resource.
-
Also, use psychology Tools like Defining your credibility such as; Why should the reader trust you? You can establish credibility in 2 main ways. 1) Personal Credibility •You have expertise in this area. •You have a degree or certification. •You have generated tangible results for people in the past. •You’ve been in the industry for {insert number of years} 2) Borrowed Credibility If you’re not an expert and don’t have experience in an area, •Borrow credibility from someone who is an expert and does have experience. But why will people read your post? You’re saving them time by summarising and curating information so they don’t have to find it themselves!
-
FOMO and emotional appeal are two best psychological triggers that can help in engaging users with your copies and campaigns. Most of the brands are using it to make their voice stand out from the crowd. 🩵 Example - Mother Dairy’s latest Campaign, Mother Dairy #MaaJaisi
-
An empathy layer must be the first thing in mind when creating copy. While scarcity techniques in (historically) the luxury world worked at the time, nowadays is all about redefining (constantly) what is luxury, for example. As this changes as new generations become interested in it, the value proposition also changes. Having that understanding of how fluid the consumer-brand relationship is also provides a clear view, in the relevant market, as to what tools work.
Finally, ensuring your copy is grammatically correct and stylistically appealing is essential. Errors or awkward phrasing can undermine your credibility and distract from your message. Grammar and style checkers help polish your writing by catching mistakes and suggesting improvements. This ensures that your copy not only communicates effectively but also maintains a professional standard that builds trust with your audience.

OR... You can leave a couple of typos on purpose. This has an inherent human touch and can be especially valuable in the post AI world.

Secret sauce to keep your copy light and catchy - When in doubt, add a little line with a PS. (PS- It has worked wonders for me 😉)

Persuasive figures of speech are a key element of persuading readers. These have been used for thousands of years in speeches, literature and copywriting. For example, "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" was developed to promote Las Vegas as a tourism destination. "To be or not to be..." and "My name is Bond, James Bond" use this same technique called diacope. Metaphors and analogies are also very important for persuading and converting readers. Your average senior copywriter (even at a top agency) might use 5 to 10 figures of speech in their work. I teach 40 of these techniques as part of my Fantastic Figures course. If you are a serious copywriter, you should know what they are and how to apply them.
