You have to offer something special and attractive (at least to a certain niche of the online community). So figure out what that is.

A chum of mine (Robert Rose) says, "Marketing is telling the world you’re a rock star. Content marketing is showing the world you are one" - if you swap the words "content marketing" for "thought leadership" in this context - it's showing employers that you're the rock star.
