DO NOT ASK WRITERS TO DO FREE, UNPAID TESTS. This is the most insane, abusive, purposeless practice ever in existence. Would you ask an electrical engineer to come to a worksite and work for free for 2 hours just to CONSIDER potentially hiring them? No, of course not. That's patently absurd. Yet people ask writers to do it ALL THE TIME. But in writing, it's even worse because you can see examples of someone's work all over the place. So why ask? Many of us have learned the hard way that working for free (shocker) is a total waste of time. 90% of the time, people take your work for granted and still don't hire you anyway. Regardless, it's a sham and should never be considered by either party.
