Your Value! Sometimes staff looking at their value often get all twisted up about the salary. A pay rise will make you happy for a day, a week, a month then it becomes the norm. Feeling of value or valued at work makes you happy every day at work. Whilst being paid the correct amount is the foundation of it all it is not the only way to get a raise. Paid for education, training, learning, more perks, better pension, bonus payments, etc.

It is always smart to understand the wage structure / banding in advance of any negotiation. Line managers are often given a band to work within for certain roles. You can always take on the other roles which usually come with additional duties / responsibilities. However look outside salary for raises can help both you and your line manager during a tight negotiation, performance related bonuses, professional development, life cover, medical / dental cover, company perks, increased company pension contributions and so on. Being valued at work is a lot to do with salary yes, however it is not the only way to feel valued or get a raise.
