Writers, I know this is hard to read, but AI is here whether you like it or not. As a writer in any capacity, the best thing you can do right now is familiarize yourself with this technology — even if you don't like it — because it is going to have an impact on your career in one way or another. It's better to anticipate and direct that impact with intentionality than let it sneak up on you.

Ha, love this one - which is why I built my own AI tool. It's a culturally smart AI copywriting tool. I've been a copywriter for 20+ years, so if that's not embracing tech, I don't know what is. So many of my copywriter colleagues are ignoring or acting like AI isn't sitting at the table with us. That's not the best move for survival.

Pull from the crowd - Finding a community of copywriters to exchange feedback and share experiences is an invaluable tool. It allows you to overcome new challenges in the industry and adapt accordingly at a much more rapid pace than you would on your own. We're all stronger, together.

It doesn't replace training or certifications, but it's an excellent strategy for staying in the know.

One thing people need to do more in terms of networking is to network with people from other niches. As a copywriter, I tend to network with developers and designers. This way, whenever they are working on a project and need fresh copy, they always reach out to me.

A network gives you access to mentors and masterminds. When new practices and skills arise in an industry, you want to shadow the habits and craft of someone who’s already mastered it. Learning direct from others has a higher ROI than absorbing lots of theory and educational materials.

AI isn't coming to copywriting... It's here. So, you better embrace it. However, a caveat of truth to consider. AI is still in its infancy. That means it cannot be blindly trusted. As a copywriter, I use AI daily to help with idea creation and research. However, one thing I never do is - use it blindly. AI is a tool. It's a powerful efficiency tool, at that. But it's not a copywriter (yet). WARNING: Anything you put in AI is considered free game for others. SO, NEVER...AND I MEAN...NEVER...PUT SENSITIVE OR CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION IN AI. Also, AI isn't here to replace copywriters. Will some business use it that way. Sure. But they're suckers. And we don't work for suckers. Use AI, be efficient. Need help? DM me.
