When giving feedback in IT Strategy, specificity is crucial. Instead of making vague statements, pinpoint the exact issue and provide clear examples. For instance, if a strategic plan lacks certain risk assessments, don't just say it's incomplete; explain which potential risks are missing and why they matter. This approach not only helps your colleague understand the problem but also provides a direct pathway to improvement. Specific feedback is actionable feedback, and that's what ultimately drives progress in IT projects.

Providing effective feedback to IT strategy colleagues is crucial for professional growth. To avoid common errors, be specific and timely with your feedback, using concrete examples. Stay respectful and solution-oriented, offering suggestions for improvement. Avoid being overly critical, unclear, insincere, or disrespectful. By following these strategies, you can provide valuable feedback that helps your colleagues improve and succeed in their roles
Positive reinforcement can be a powerful motivator in IT Strategy. When offering feedback, balance critiques with recognition of what's working well. Acknowledge the strengths of your colleague's approach before diving into areas that need refinement. For example, you might commend their innovative use of technology to solve a business problem before suggesting additional considerations for scalability. This positive framing encourages a more receptive attitude and reinforces the value of their contributions.

Timing is everything when it comes to feedback. Provide your insights soon after you've observed the situation in question, while it's still fresh in everyone's minds. In IT Strategy, where projects move quickly and decisions can have lasting impacts, timely feedback ensures that corrective action can be taken without delay. By addressing issues promptly, you help maintain project momentum and prevent minor oversights from becoming major setbacks.

Feedback should be a two-way street, especially in IT Strategy where collaboration is vital. Encourage your colleagues to share their perspectives and engage in a dialogue about the feedback provided. This exchange of ideas can lead to a deeper understanding of the challenges faced and can uncover innovative solutions that might not have been considered otherwise. A healthy dialogue also builds trust and strengthens working relationships within the team.

Feedback should be always 2 way. If i give feedback to someone else be it +ve or -ve, i too should be open to get back my feedback. Be it good or bad. Sometimes its the -ve feedback which is more important for correct growth. If we get everything +ve, there will be no space for improvement. So here is my dialog - "My dear colleague, i am going to give you 5 points +ve and 5 points -ve. I would be oblidged if you did the same for me. Let us both grow to our best version!"

After providing feedback, it's important to follow up. This shows your colleague that you're invested in their progress and that the feedback wasn't just a one-off conversation. In IT Strategy, where plans and projects evolve, checking in periodically allows you to see how your colleague has implemented the feedback and to offer further guidance as needed. It also provides an opportunity to acknowledge improvements, reinforcing the positive impact of the feedback process.
