Continuous learning is incredibly important and I'm a huge fan. I would warn against equating continuous learning to obtaining a string of certifications, which do have their place, but taking courses that refresh or introduce you to the core fundamentals have a much longer shelf-life and are more applicable to new areas. Core math courses, logic courses and even non-technical presentation, english courses, can pay of more dividends than various technology specific certifications. It's all about future proofing by understanding the fundamentals.
