This question is either obvious, stupid, or both. My father's generation would advise you to get off your butt and reach out to as many people as possible. This group includes relatives, friends, high school and college classmates, former clients, neighbors, casual acquaintances, etc. This approach is still valid. Most importantly, stay positive. Know that you will find another job, often when you least expect it. Keep focussed on what lies ahead rather than what has been left in the dust. Wallowing in self-pity will get you nowhere. Take charge and know that your next career adventure is waiting to greet you.

I am a member of the Texas State Bar Paralegal Division, so I used my resources there and took continuing legal education (CLE) in different areas of law. I eventually transitioned into a new area of law that ended up more financially and intellectually rewarding.
