You submitted an application and realize that you used the wrong documents, had some typos, etc. What do you do? Stay calm and resubmit with corrected documents. If you applied through a website portal and you aren't able to submit new documents, use the company directory to find an HR contact and resubmit your documents. Include a short note, "Attached are updated application materials for the (title) posting. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to talking with you more about this position". Can't send an updated version? Cut your losses and move on. Just be sure to be extra careful with your future applications.

Honestly, your application materials should be proofread not once but twice to afford common oversights, (addressing to wrong recruiter or company) of your cut/paste from previous cover letter or forgot to update your email address on resume. In a highly competitive job market, full attention is required to ensure to maximize a strong first impression. Yes, you can always resubmit, but as a good carpet will tell you — measure twice and cut once.
