Mentorship program is a perfect springboard for SMEs of different skillset or knowledge to develop the less skilled or the less knowledgeable talents in the pipeline. For instance, my company is currently undergoing a significant scale of Lean transformation; we quickly observed gaps in our frontline leadership's ability to engage. So, the plant senior leadership strategized and developed a mentorship program where we pair a frontline leader up with a senior leader. The pitfall of some mentorship programs is that there is no quantifiable measures in place to track progression. We made sure to define what success looks like before rolling out the program. The result has been fantastic!
