First of all , set yourself a goal that cannot be accomplished without collaboration of diverse teams . If we don’t do it, we are not thinking bold enough , not creating inspiring possibilities, and getting blindsided. Share that goal broadly and generate positive energy and motivation in teams to achieve it. Most of the trivial issues do get resolved on its own when we are in the flow to achieve something big. :) Then we can use all the available knowledge about inclusivity, team building, collaboration tools etc. to facilitate smoother and consistent experience. Never forget to remind teams of the goal every now and then.

I always say pictures say 1000 words. Only some people can interpret the results of data or comprehend ideas. Show graphs and simple indicators involving pictures, and write clear, concise summaries of your data. Speak slowly so that there is time to process what is said. Repeat essential points in a summary. I started a role recently showing a spreadsheet of data. It was good, but it wasn't the most effective way to show data. I took the spreadsheet that was given to me and converted it to a Power BI. Now, I had pictures the customers could understand, to the point where they asked me to send the Power BI to them monthly. A picture says 1000 words, and the Power BI that I had created was proof of that.

In my view to navigate challenges while dealing with diverse teams, its about understanding the diversity of that team/team members to its true meaning because when people understand the real diversity they will be able to find a common thread which will be common in that diverse team. And the moment, we have common thread, challenges will reduce its intensity to a significant extent.

All the previous points are important. However, often our collective human history, which is woven into every interaction, affects which differences we embrace, whose needs we consider as important and whose ideas we value. So, what is needed beyond these well-intentioned tips are tools and processes that balance out power differences in the group and support that everybody can fully participate, independently of their background / identity. Inclusive Leadership is very much about being aware of these dynamics and skillfully using these tools and processes so as to navigate situations that are both complex and fast-changing and to be able to make good decisions amidst uncertainty.
