If you figure this one out, then please let me know. I kid (sort of). My office is a mere 5 steps away from my bedroom so it is hard to set boundaries. I tend to go, go, go. And then about 2x per year I will hit a wall. Instead of nailing into that wall, be proactive. Figure out what truly energizes you outside of work. Is it spending time with family, pursuing hobbies, or simply having quiet time to recharge? Then create your boundaries. Learn how to say no. Turn off the tech. Prioritize self care.

You don't need a confusing flowchart with 1,000 steps to prioritize your day. It can actually be pretty simple, even when you have 1 million things (hand raised right here). 1. Move your body first thing in the morning. This is non-negotiable for me. 2. Knock out a few small tasks in the first 30 minutes. Like emails, messages, etc. 3. Focus the majority of my morning, I am saying the first 4-5 hours on the most brain intensive stuff. For me, this is writing. Writing, writing, and more writing. 4. Eat a healthy lunch. 5. Focus the rest of the day on less intense activities. I might interact on LinkedIn, edit a podcast, create social clips, schedule social media posts, etc. Figure out what works for you, and be consistent

I liked to prioritize tasks into a 2X2 matrix of sorts - one axis is divided into 'important' and 'urgent' and the other axis is divided into 'for me' and 'for others'. This helps me have a clear idea of what are some of task that need to be reprioritized. I also spend the first 30 mins of my day - planning my day/week to see what I need to do in the day, sometimes even block my own calendar to have uninterrupted time when I need to finish working on a file. This analysis also helps me understand if I need to request for an extension on any of my current deliverables basis the timelines which helps me feel less stressed about work.

It is very important that you do not see downtime as competition for work time - it's the contrary. Consciously taking a break (and not thinking of the to do list that awaits you back at the desk), being physically active, enjoying a casual conversation with someone, having food you love, or simply meditation for some time helps you to be more productive afterwards. Research has shown that working without a break for several hours has less qualitative work results than spending the same amount of time with conscious breaks in between. Here are a few tricks I try myself sometimes Cook meals in the evening that you can take for lunch the next day to save some time. Make the most of your weekends try getting out, doing things, seeing some friends or family—literally anything that takes your mind off work. Don’t eat lunch at your desk, or at least go for a walk before you eat it to give yourself a break. Give yourself at least one evening a week to rest and reset (this was always a Friday for me).
