The National Automobile Museum opens Children’s Educational Activity Center
RENO, Nev. (KOLO) -The National Automobile Museum opened the E.L. Wiegand Children’s Educational Activity Center June 28.
“We needed a children’s section in the museum to keep the museum carrying on,” says Sponsor for the Education Center Adam Webster.
It features multiple different learning activity station’s including a virtual build-a-race-car design, the physical car building workshop, a virtual speedway, and interactive wiring and car wash activities.
CEO and Chairman of the E.L. Wiegand Foundation, Skip Avansino says that he thinks this is his favorite station:
“I think in the back there is a place where you can build an automobile. I think I might take my grandson because I think he would really enjoy it.”
Each station has descriptions on how cars work: like gravity, inertia, and thrust/drag forces, but this education isn’t just for the little ones:
“I think young adults may come here on dates on the weekends. Why not, you can come here they have a bar you can enjoy it,” says Avansino.
The center will be open June 29 to the public, but June 30 will feature a “Cars” movie theme with Lightning McQueen, movies and snow cones.
